Marie Pinkney holds a bachelor’s degree in social work from Norfolk State University and a master’s degree in social work from Delaware State University. She spent several years working at a treatment center for adolescents with mental health and substance abuse issues and served as a social worker/case manager at ChristianaCare. Currently, Pinkney is pursuing a second master’s degree in Africana Studies. Her professional background is complemented by her role as a foster mother, providing care and support to a teen mother and her young son.
